Sisters of Mercy 150th Anniversary

Trace the Footsteps of Our Founding Sisters

They traveled halfway around the world from Ireland to the frontiers of California to minister to the sick, poor and uneducated. And until 1900, the Sisters of Mercy were the only order of Catholic women religious to minister to the city of Sacramento. They were the city’s first visiting nurses, while serving as educators and compassionate caregivers to the poor and ignorant. Where there is need, there is Mercy…yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Trace their footsteps and walk in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy through Sacramento and see the historical sites behind their 150-year legacy. To request for a DVD of the tour, hosted by Kelly Brothers and Sister Katherine Doyle, please contact Mercy Foundation at 916.851.2700.
