Creekside Manor Dedication and Open House

Mercy Housing California celebrated the completion of Creekview Manor, 138 new, affordable, active senior rental homes located next to Mercy Hospital of Folsom. We are grateful for the show of suppport at our dedication ceremony and open house on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.
Mercy Housing California, one of the state’s largest nonprofit providers of affordable housing, has a new opportunity for low‐income seniors in the Sacramento area who are being priced out of Sacramento’s housing market. Many seniors are on fixed incomes from Social Security and Sacramento’s high housing prices are forcing them to leave the area.
Creekview Manor offers an affordable option in the closely knit community of Folsom. The property has many amenities including transportation, shopping, parks, and a new senior and arts center that just opened in June 2007.
Facts about the property and the need for affordable homes for seniors in the region:
-
In 2006, the average monthly rent for a one‐bedroom apartment in Sacramento County was $786. To be considered affordable, a person would have to make about $28,300. With medical costs and a fixed income from Social Security, many seniors struggle to afford rent in Folsom and the Sacramento area.
-
Seniors who are looking for quality, affordable housing in Sacramento may find Creekview Manor to be a great option that is still near their families and friends in the larger Sacramento area. Creekview Manor is open to people 55 and older who have annual incomes ranging from $9,900 to $36,300. Monthly rental costs for one‐ and two‐bedroom apartments will be $330 to $692, depending upon the resident’s income and the apartment size. The property’s 138 cottage and apartment‐style units range from 604 square feet to 796 square feet.
-
The senior property will also include a 4,372‐square‐foot community room, where residents can take advantage of health care and educational programs and other support services designed specifically for seniors. The property is adjacent to Mercy Hospital of Folsom, so residents will be close to high‐quality medical care, too.
-
Creekview Manor was possible through Mercy Housing’s Strategic Healthcare Partnership with Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), Mercy Hospital of Folsom’s parent organization. The partnership brings the two organizations together to increase access to affordable housing and health care across the country. Mercy Folsom donated the land for Creekview Manor and CHW has provided significant financial assistance.
