Red Chair Salon’s Charity Hair-a-Thon Helps Mercy Foundation Fight Cancer
Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Support Group and Mercy Center for Breast Health
FOLSOM, CA, February 26, 2010 – During uncertain economic times, one local business finds a creative way to bring the entire community together to help Mercy Foundation fight cancer. The Red Chair Salon’s Charity Hair-a-Thon event is taking place on Saturday, February 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the salon located at 8012 Folsom-Auburn Road. Proceeds from the event will benefit Mercy Foundation for the Cancer Support Group and Mercy Center for Breast Health.
The Red Chair Salon not only has the support of family and friends, but the entire community, including fellow stylists from neighboring salons, businesses sharing the same plaza and local restaurants. For one day only, women, men and children of all ages can receive a beautiful haircut and style and enjoy refreshments and snacks provided by local restaurants for a minimum donation of $20. With the involvement of so many in the community, the Red Chair Salon hopes to deliver a day of excellent service and great fun while also providing the community with an opportunity to support cancer patients.
“This is the type of event that will inspire all those involved,” says Tim Pair, owner of the Red Chair Salon. “It’s one small way that the salon can help Mercy Foundation continue programs that help those living with cancer cope with and hopefully conquer this disease.”
For generations Mercy Foundation and the Sisters of Mercy have relied on the generosity of individuals and the partnership of local businesses to continue serving those in need of quality healthcare programs and services. The Cancer Support Group located at Mercy Hospital of Folsom gives cancer patients the tools and support to navigate through their journey – from a position of fear, isolation and helplessness to empowerment, strength, humor and hopefulness.
“The Cancer Support Group provided me with an opportunity to learn more about my medical diagnosis, manage medical issues, explore options to conventional treatment plans, and develop a healing attitude that transcended basic treatment practices,” said one group participant.
Proceeds to Mercy Foundation will also benefit the Mercy Center for Breast Health, where Sacramento area women and men can access complete breast cancer diagnostics, treatment, education and support services to prevent and fight breast cancer.
Businesses joining the effort also include Options for Health and The Tiger’s Eye Skin Care. At Options for Health, Dr. Laurie Andreoni will be offering chiropractic adjustments for a minimum donation of $20. And if clients and visitors are looking for a unique gift, colorful turbans and scarves are also available for sale at her business, for which 20% of proceeds will go to support Mercy Foundation. Myriam Liberman, owner of The Tiger’s Eye Skin Care, will also donate 20% of proceeds the sale of skincare products to Mercy Foundation.
No appointment is necessary to participate in the Red Chair Salon Charity Hair-a-thon event or to visit Options for Health and The Tiger’s Eye Skin Care.
