Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center Campaign
The new, state-of-the-art Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center is being planned for Mercy General Hospital to address the cardiac health of the community, today and tomorrow. As one of the nation’s top cardiac programs, Mercy General Hospital performs 65% of the region’s cardiac bypass surgeries and 32% of all cardiac catheterizations. A campaign is under way to raise $40 million to make this dream a reality.
The new heart center will provide a technologically and aesthetically superior environment to provide the highest level of services and healing available. At Mercy, patients come first. From community education classes and cardiac conditioning programs to catheterizations and complex surgeries, the entire cardiac team puts the patient’s needs at the forefront. The new facility will offer advanced technology, improved safety and greater efficiency to provide the best possible care, while also meeting the emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families. The location of the heart and vascular center on the Mercy General Hospital campus ensures patients from across the region have access to a full range of health care services should the need arise.
